How to Check the Quality of the LED Wall Washer

    ISEELED Provide you the premium suitable LED Washer Light for your project.

    1.Housing and Assemble Quality 

    Premium LED Wall Washer light: Feature thickened aviation-grade aluminum profiles with a substantial, solid feel. The thickness of the wall washer housing is uniform and resistant to deformation under pressure. The surface finish (anodized or powder-coated) is smooth, with rich color, no peeling, and zero burrs.

    Substandard LED Wall Washers: Made of thin iron or lightweight aluminum, feeling flimsy. Edges are often sharp, and the paint finish scratches easily with noticeable color inconsistencies.

    2. Sealing Structure (Glass, Gaskets, and Adhesives) 

    Glass: Must be tempered glass with a perfectly flat surface, free of scratches or bubbles. Ordinary glass has poor light transmission and is prone to shattering outdoors.

    Waterproof Gaskets: Should be intact, highly elastic, and show no signs of cracking or shrinking. The silicone sealant at the joints must be applied evenly and fully, with no gaps or excess overflow.

    Cable Glands: The DMX LED cable entry points should feature waterproof connectors with rubber O-rings. The connections must be tight and secure, impossible to loosen by hand.

    Adjustable Brackets: The pivot mechanism should have appropriate tension, locking firmly into position without drooping over time. All screws must be made of stainless steel to prevent rusting.

    3. LEDs and Lenses

    LED Chips: Should be aligned neatly with smooth, shiny solder joints. There should be no cold solder joints, loose connections, or blackened spots, and the chip surfaces must be clean and scratch-free.

    Lenses: Must be crystal clear, free of impurities or bubbles, and securely fastened by tight clips. Inferior lenses often appear cloudy, have poor light transmission, and are prone to yellowing and premature aging.


    4. IP Rating (Protection Level)

    Outdoor Models: Must feature a clearly laser-engraved IP65 or IP66 rating. (Avoid stickers, as they can be easily peeled off and falsified). IP54 and below are strictly for indoor use only.

    5. Power Supply and Driver Labeling

    The fixture must be clearly labeled with its input voltage (DC24V/AC220V), wattage, and color temperature.

    Reputable products will explicitly state they use a Constant Current Driver. If this is not specified, it is highly likely to be a cheap, inferior Capacitor-Drop Driver (阻容驱动).

    6. Salt Spray / Anti-Corrosion Resistance

    For coastal or seaside installations, check for specific anti-corrosion and salt-spray resistance markings. Ordinary aluminum will oxidize and turn white within a short period in marine environments.

    7. Basic Illumination Tests

    7-1 Flicker Test: Point a smartphone camera directly at the light. No rolling black bars on the screen = flicker-free. Prominent bars indicate a poor-quality driver, which causes eye strain and reduces lifespan.

    7-2 Brightness Uniformity: The entire fixture should emit light evenly, with no localized dark spots, bright spots, or harsh boundaries. Dim or dead LEDs indicate poor chip quality or cold solder joints.

    7-3 Stray Light & Light Leakage: There should be no light escaping from the sides or seams outside the designated illumination direction. Light leakage indicates poor sealing and optical design, resulting in wasted lumens and potential water ingress.

    7-4 Color Temperature & Consistency: When multiple fixtures from the same batch are lit up side-by-side, the color must be perfectly uniform. Noticeable color deviations (e.g., one fixture appearing yellowish while another is whitish) indicate poor LED binning, which looks terrible in project applications.

    7-5 Temperature Rise Test (Crucial for Heat Dissipation): Operate the fixture continuously for 30 minutes.

    Premium: The housing feels warm but not too hot to touch, with stable temperature distribution, indicating a qualified aluminum heat sink design.

    Substandard: The housing becomes excessively hot or even softens the fixture in a short time. Poor heat dissipation leads to rapid lumen depreciation, burnt-out LEDs, and drastically shortened lifespan.

    7-6 Voltage Stability (For Project-Grade Fixtures): Slightly fluctuate the input voltage. If the brightness remains unchanged, it is a true constant current driver. If the brightness flickers, the driver is unqualified.

    7-7 Specialized Tests for Color Models (RGB/Full Color):

    Internal Control: Colors transition smoothly without stuttering, color shifting, or lag during jumps and gradients.

    External Control (DMX512): When connected to a controller, the synchronization must be precise, with no desynchronization or erratic light behavior.

    8. Waterproof & Weather Resistance Tests (Mandatory for Outdoor Use)

    Simple Water Spray Test: While powered on, spray the fixture, cable glands, and seams with clean water for 1–2 minutes.

    Pass: No internal fogging or water ingress; normal operation.

    Fail: Internal condensation or water droplets appear on the glass. Stop using immediately; waterproofing has failed.

    Submersion Test (Rigorous testing for project spot checks): Briefly submerge the fixture in shallow water. No water ingress or short circuits = pass.

    9. Accessories and After-Sales Support (Indicators of Quality Control)

    Complete Accessories: Should include stainless steel screws, waterproof cable glands, and spare O-rings. Accessories must be made of solid, high-quality materials.

    Warranty Terms: Reputable brands explicitly offer a 2–3 year warranty and guarantee lumen maintenance standards. Unbranded or inferior manufacturers typically only offer verbal warranties without written proof, making their products highly unreliable.
